Ireland West Airport has adapted its facilities to better support passengers with a wide range of complex disabilities. Our fully accessible Changing Places toilet facility in the main terminal ensures dignity, comfort and safety for passengers and their carers.

What is a Changing Places Facility?

A Changing Places facility is an enhanced, fully accessible restroom designed for people with complex disabilities. At Ireland West Airport, the Changing Places facility includes an adult-sized height-adjustable changing bench, a ceiling-track hoist, a centrally positioned toilet with space on both sides, grab rails, an accessible sink, non-slip flooring, and an emergency call alarm. This area allows passengers and their carers to travel with confidence, knowing appropriate facilities are available throughout their journey.

Information for users

Our Changing Places Facility is located in the main terminal beside both the male and female bathrooms near our XL Shop and adjacent to our Visitor Centre. Some important information about our facility:

  • Open to the public.
  • This facility is not manned by our staff members – users must review its suitability prior to use.
  • Ireland West Airport do not provide slings.
  • The equipment has weight restrictions.
  • It is the responisibility of the user/carer to ensure the safe use of the facility and equipment provided.
  • If the room requires attention please notify a member of staff at the Customer Services desk.

Where is the Changing Places Facility at the airport?

This facility is located in the main terminal beside both the male and female bathrooms near our XL shop and adjacent to our Visitor Centre. Note this facility is not accessible once passengers go through to the departures lounge.

Is the Changing Places Facility open to the public?

Yes, this facility is open to the public.

Is the airport accessible for wheelchairs?

Yes, all areas of the airport are accessible for wheelchairs. Most of our key areas are located on the ground floor however our Sláinte Barista Café is accessible by a lift in the main terminal.

What is PRM assistance and how can I book it?

In accordance with the relevant legislation, Ireland West Airport provides assistance to passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) free of charge. The type of assistance provided includes the provision of wheelchairs, help embarking and disembarking the aircraft and guidance through the airport for people who are independently mobile but might have visual impairments etc. You can arrange assistance through your airline, travel agent or tour operator. In order to be guaranteed assistance passengers should notify the air carrier or tour operator/travel agent of their requirements 48 hours before the intended travel time. It is recommended that passengers give as much information about their requirements as possible at that stage. The air carrier or tour operator will pass on these details to the airports of arrival and departure (and transit if applicable). I’m a passenger with reduced mobility and a blue badge holder – where can I park my car at the airport?

Ireland West Airport want to make travel through the airport as easy as possible for passengers with reduced mobility. To this end we have dedicated reduced mobility parking spaces available next to the Terminal building. All drivers parking in PRM / Blue Badge Parking spaces must ensure their vehicles display the appropriate sticker / badge on their windscreen to identify them as drivers with reduced mobility. If for any reason, a driver needs to bring this sticker / badge on their journey, please go to the security office located in the main terminal for a copy to display in the car while parked. Standard parking rates / online rates apply to PRM / Blue Badge Parking.
